The Aman Villas at Nusa Dua, previously Amanusa Villas, remains under Aman management while the main resort Amanusa is now under the management of IHG and rebranded Kimpton Naranta, Radit Mahindro, Aman’s area marketing and communications director Indonesia, told Hotels-Asia.

“Technically Amanusa consisted of two complexes: the Amanusa main resort and the Amanusa Villas. Aman stopped managing Amanusa since February 2018, and Amanusa Villas was renamed to Aman Villas at Nusa Dua,” he said.

Aman ceased managing Amanusa as its 25-year management contract with the owning company Ancora had ended. Amanusa later closed and will finally reopen this year as Kimpton Naranta. The ownership this time round is a joint venture and one of the parties is an existing IHG owner, according to an IHG spokesperson.

Mahindro does not see Kimpton Naranta as competing with Aman Villas at Nusa Dua.

“We are managing a six multi-bedroom villa complex than a multi-room resort,” he said.

Aman’s portfolio in Indonesia also includes the Amandari, Amankila, Amanwana and Amanjiwo.

“We’re focusing on Indonesia’s reopening and are ready to introduce new experiences that we’ve been crafting in the past two years to the global audience. These include Amanjiwo’s Journey Through Java by Train, Amanwana’s Camp of Your Own [private camp buy-out concept] and Amankila’s Sunrise Cruise, an experience that includes snorkeling the Lombok Strait and breakfast onboard Amankila’s traditional Jukung-styled outriggers,” said Mahindro.

Plans are also in place to enhance the dining and wellbeing offering across the Indonesia portfolio from a cultural and adventure aspect, rather than the traditional physical infrastructure viewpoint, he said.
