He helped put Bangkok on the map for luxury dining and Deepak Ohri is back, this time in Phuket with a new F&B concept, House of Tin Baron, which boasts the world’s first Louis Roederer Cristal Room.

Located in the heart of Phuket’s Old Town, House of Tin Baron was once the residence of a wealthy figure in the mining industry. The Sino-Portuguese mansion has been beautifully restored and its name is a throw back to Phuket’s tin mining heydays, which shaped the island’s economy and culture.

Set to open December 1, House of Tin Baron also features an Italian fine-dining experience, Terra, which is helmed by Executive Chef Okan Ozturk. He brings with him a wealth of experience from renowned establishments worldwide including Michelin-starred restaurants.

But the jewel in the house is cristal-clear. The Louis Roederer Cristal Room pays homage to the rich heritage and rarity of Louis Roederer Cristal, first created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia.

Guests can savor exceptional vintages and iconic selections, including Cristal Brut, Cristal Rosé and a curated array of rare vintage offerings, including Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2008, hailed as one of the best champagne vintages in modern times.

The Italian restaurant Terra, on the other hand, is more down to earth as its name suggests. It offers the finest and freshest seasonal ingredients sourced globally, as seen in dishes such as Nova Scotia Lobster and Chilled Sour Risotto or Tortellini Fontina and Alba White Truffle. A curated tasting menu and an a la carte menu are both available.

The restaurant’s centerpiece is a dessert bar that aims to “delight guests with innovative interpretations of indulgent Italian classics.

Stepping into Terra is akin to visiting an elegant Italian villa, where sophistication meets warmth, and every detail has been thoughtfully curated,” said Ohri, who is now CEO of his own company, Luxury Atelier Maison Happiness.

“With Terra, we have created a space where every meal is an experience, a journey through Italy’s culinary heart, elevated by the warm, welcoming atmosphere.”

Ohri aims for House of Tin Baron to redefine the dining scene in Phuket and become Phuket’s premier lifestyle destination, offering an unparalleled blend of history, elegance and culinary excellence.

He may do for Phuket with House of Tin Baron what he did for Bangkok with the Dome at Lebua.
